Disgrifiad

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands / Malvinas War, a conflict that continues to have an impact and hold social and cultural resonance both in the UK and Argentina: An anniversary made even more poignant this year, given recent events in Ukraine.

The event consists of the display of poems and three film screenings throughout the month of April 2022 to offer an insight into British and Argentine responses to the war from film-makers, established poets and poets directly involved in the conflict: Poets writing as combatants on opposite sides, as victims and as witnesses to events and their legacies.

The purpose is to share some of the film and poetry of the Falklands / Malvinas War and to explore and share the audience's responses, memories of this war and reactions, both in the light of this conflict and others, now ongoing and more recent. In other words, to explore the impact of war, and its poetry, on people’s lives beyond the parenthetical space and location of ‘war time’.
