The purpose of the article was to raise awareness of the issue of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) and their potential socio-economic impacts. Following this article the internet traffic on the projects facebook page, twitter account and website increased. Furthermore, project members received emails from researchers interested in collaborating with the project.
