The CSM posits that social support may serve as a protective factor against stress for veterans during the transition to civilian life and has been validated empirically in a study undertaken by Larsen, J. L. (2014, p.97. http://www.alexandria.ucsb.edu/lib/ark:/48907/f3d50k42): ‘[T]hese findings are consistent with Olusanya (2012) conceptualization of a psychosocial-ecological framework for predicting post-deployment mental health problems…It appears that this model may be relevant to the expression of PTSD following military service’.
