Dr, BSc (hons) Applied Psychology; MA Research and Consultancy; PhD Health Research; Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Proffil personol

My background is broadly in the field of Applied Health Psychology, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University before completing an MA in Applied Research and Consultancy at Lancaster University, and then returning to Liverpool John Moore’s University for a PhD in Health Psychology examining the psychological impact of obesity surgery.

My main research interests are in the areas of health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on health inequalities among vulnerable groups. I have recently served as Principal Investigator on several externally funded projects, including a mixed-methods intervention to improve wellbeing in refugee communities, a longitudinal qualitative study examining social integration in divided communities, and a survey to understand the impact of language barriers within BAME communities. My secondary research interests are in teaching and learning, with a particular emphasis on test anxiety and academic self-efficacy.

I have extensive experience of teaching across the Psychology curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as experience in academic administration, including chairing institutional committees. I have also served in the role of personal tutor.

I am a Member of the British Psychological Society, a Member of the Association for Psychological Science, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
