Appointed Honorary Secretary to the Council of the International Society for Diatom Research. I undertake a range of administrative taks on behalf of the society, including membership matters and assistance with organisation of the biannual International Diatom Symposium. The most significant task during my tenure has been my involvement in negotiating the transfer of the society's journal, Diatom Research from a small private publisher, Biopress, to Taylor and Francis, which will help to enhance the international profile of the journal in the future.
