This project will result in the first history of the New Poor Law in Wales. Focussing on the entire period from 1834 to 1930 and every county in Wales, we will explore a range of interlocking themes and will trace for the first time what was distinctively ‘Welsh’ about the way the New Poor Law was received, experienced, and challenged
