Cultures and Communities Phase 3

The proposed Project builds on the work of two previous Networks on ‘Cultures and Communities’ funded as part of the Agile Cymru scheme. Phase 1 brought together largely academic stakeholders from different territories to identify three key themes that would act as the basis of further applied research in relation to Cultures and Communities: regenerative tourism in the Celtic periphery; maritime museums and Celtic ocean literacy; Celtic language revitalisation. Phase 2 of the Network made connections between academic, practitioner and policy stakeholders to support pro-jects on these specific themes. Our aim in Phase 3 of the Network is to further embed a develop our work in the first two phases, specifically by: 1) coordinating activities across these three themes, so that potential synergies can be exploited; 2) creating the space for any new themes to emerge under the umbrella of the Net-work; 3) strengthening links with relevant stakeholders in Wales, e.g. National Museum of Wales, Learned Society of Wales; 4) developing links with partners in other countries, e.g. Scotland (which has been under-represented to date); 5) supporting efforts to obtain longer-term funding to support the Network as a whole, e.g. Brussels for Horizon Europe funding and Paris for discussions with UNESCO.
