This project aims to assess whether newly created woodlands enhance (or ‘fast-track’) connectivity for woodland species within fragmented landscapes. The main research question to be addressed is: Are individuals of selected woodland species/groups able to move into and through new woodland creation sites, and/or between existing mature woodlands which are connected by new woodland? Secondarily: How is the ability of new woodland creation sites to enhance connectivity influenced by their age and other attributes (e.g. structure)? The questions will be answered by deploying airsamplers to assess via eDNA metabarcoding airborne propagules in/around and between target woodland areas
