The IBERS PROSOIL project is an innovative venture tackling the many challenges of soil management. Working with Welsh livestock farmers, the PROSOIL project links scientific research on soil management techniques to farm practice.
Plot experiments and field work undertaken at IBERS is replicated on nine commercial development farms across Wales, allowing robust scientific comparisons to be made towards improving soil health through various approaches. The results are shared with the wider farming industry through newsletters, factsheets, agricultural shows and, more recently, the newly-formed Regional Development Groups, who all have a shared interest in soil management.
