The grant will be used to prepare and organise a hybrid workshop for displaced young Myanmar adults (university-age and above), who have been denied access to formal education since the coup. It seeks to equip them with skills and knowledge to tell stories based on lived experience and surrounding environment, and to present these stories in a storybook. This project will practise, for the first time, a place-based storytelling within the diasporic Myanmar community spanning multiple geographic locations. The methodology combines findings from pedagogic research conducted by project partners and new initiatives responding to the demands of displaced youth striving for long-term peace. Additionally, by facilitating engagement between communities in the Global South and Global North, and among individuals with past and present experiences of displacement, it aims to build a bridge between Wales and the exiled Myanmar community, fostering a deeper understanding of everyday peace in a global context.
