Crynodeb
The 14th Luminescence and Electron Spin Resonance Dating conference (LED 2014) was held between July 7 and 11, 2014 at the New Residence Hall in MontreÁal, Canada. Three keynote lectures were given by Jim Feathers (luminescence, archaeological sediments), Edward Rhodes (luminescence, geological sediments) and Shin Toyoda (ESR, sediments), and Robert F. Martin, McGill University, presented a workshop on feldspar group minerals, with a focus on the development of structural defects. Some 250 papers were presented at the conference, a third as oral presentations. The manuscripts were submitted for publication to either Radiation Measurements or Quaternary Geochronology as Special Issues of these journals. A high proportion of the papers were focused on applications of the trapped charge methods to dating problems. The application of luminescence to thermochronometry was one of these novel topics and increased interest in this was reflected in the number of presentations devoted to that area.
