Crynodeb

Much evidence points towards use of the bus improving health, through increasing active travel to and from the bus stop, through connecting people to the things they want and have to do and reducing isolation and loneliness for example, through better connections to healthcare meaning people are more likely to meet their appointments and through the journey itself for some people. However, more research is needed into how the bus use-health relationships work and what the key determinants of health are from using the bus in more detail. How we increase bus use needs more research as well, looking at improving the bus user experience alongside improving the driver's status along with their health and wellbeing. Finally, there is a need to tie it all together in conjunction with other aspects of transport and health.
