ACOM ('Computing for all') : an integrated approach to the teaching and learning of information technology in: Proceedings of the 4th Annual SIGCSE/SIGCUE Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE'99), pp. 195-195 ACM Press. 1999. N2 - In this poster we intend to outline the approach adopted by the
ACOM (COMputing For All) courses, which are intended to
provide a comprehensive introduction to Information Technology
for undergraduates from a non-computing background. These
modules were initially designed in 1996 by Dr Peter Millican,
though he and his team (including the authors) have continued to
develop them extensively since then. The aim of the ACOM
modules is to present a broad range of IT Skills in an accessible
manner, and to integrate these skills with student study and
research (as emphasised in the Dearing Report, section 13).
