Crynodeb

Participation in a multi-site experiment investigating overwintering and spring growth in white clover (T. repens) has facilitated analysis of changes in the genetic structure of populations after 2-3 years' exposure to a range of environments
located in the cooler regions of Europe. The analysis sought to elucidate the nature of the selective forces in operation at these sites, thereby helping to identify traits of adaptive significance. Various morphological and physiological traits were
analysed in a number of experiments. Traits that appeared to be of adaptive significance in cold climates were identified.
