Crynodeb

Ninety-one Lolium perenne ecotypes, collected from across Europe, and six varieties were grown in a randomized fi eld trial over 2 years. The plants were analyzed for a range of morphological characters. The obtained results indicate that high variability actually exists among and within natural perennial ryegrass ecotypes and the cultivars and the differences observed between populations were based more on genetics than geography.
