Crynodeb

This is a group exhibition involving six artists from Aberystwyth, London, Cardiff and Barcelona, whose work principally involves techniques of printmaking. The premise for this exhibition has been the examination of the connections between image, process and concept.

For each artist Between Spaces has significant and meaningful associations. For Paul Croft the space between the graphic development of symbols and characters and their subsequent phonetic sound and meaning has become the focus of recent works that are as much aural as they are visual. For London-based artist, Wuon Gean Ho the skin that veils the face hides inner worlds that comprise of a jumble of memories and little prayers for past and future events and situations. Similarly in the evocative imaginary landscapes of Australian artist Danielle Creenaune (currently living in Barcelona) the spaces are occupied by memories of places having been visited. In his prints of masculinity that explore aspects of identity and what it is to be gay, London-based artist Steve Edwards has become interested in the space between the public and private persona. For Pete Williams and Lou Thornton who work collaboratively using printmaking, collage, assemblage and sculpture – their work explores the spaces inhabited by memory, identity and being.
