Crynodeb
This chapter looks at female entrepreneurship in East Asia and at some of the issues and challenges that women starting a business in these countries face. Following the increasing participation of women in the workforce and in entrepreneurial activities, attitudes are changing all over the world. Women are becoming more positive about the opportunities to start a business and more confident in their abilities. There is recognition that female entrepreneurs are a catalyst for economic growth and job creation. However, there is also an understanding that female entrepreneurs may face additional barriers in starting a business. The effect of these barriers on GDP and job creation may be considerable and this has led to an increasing interest by academics and policy-makers.
