Crynodeb

The potential use of peatlands in south west England is evaluated as archives of both local and more regional mineral extraction and processing operations from the mid-Holocene period. Quantitative XRF analyses reconstructed the pollution histories for the two sites investigated by analysis of Cu, Zn, As and Pb. Results are presented both as element concentration profiles and as enrichment factors using ash content to normalize the data.
