Crynodeb
The genus Hordeum, the barleys, with a basic chromosome number of 2n = 14, comprises about 30 grass species, with cultivated barley, Hordeum vulgare, being the world’s fourth most important cereal. The grain of cultivated barley has two major uses: first, for malting to produce beer and spirits and, second, for animal feed and, occasionally, human feed.
