This chapter examines J. G. Ballard's novel Crash and film of the same title. It explains that this examination is conducted in relation to the influence of popular culture on the legal system. It highlights the result of a study which surveyed the film's reception and its links to social and legal debates regarding censorship which was published in the book The Crash Controversy: Censorship Campaigns and Film Reception.
