Summary
A journal article collaboration between scholar/artist/practitioner Jill Greenhalgh and feminist theatre historian Professor Maggie B Gale, this ‘version’ of the Magdalena Projects’ work attempts to capture the different types of ‘knowledge’ and ‘knowledge networks’ that the project has enabled.
Research Questions
This Project asks
•How do we document and analyse the relationship of Magdalena events to the resonances of the project’s work – in performances made by women who have come into contact with the project - and its ripple effects on practice through time?
•How do we articulate the original artistic impetus behind the founding of the Magdalena Project in relation to the ways in which it has transformed both through time and through its successes and perceived failures?
•How do we capture the different types of ‘knowledge’ and ‘knowledge networks’ that the project has enabled over the years, the flow of activities and the ways in which these invite us to construct a horizontal and inclusive type of ‘history’ rather than one which operates vertically, through exclusion?
