Crynodeb
This chapter explores the history of British broadcasting In the short transitional period between the end of WW2 and the shift to full post-war peace-time broadcasting. In particular it seeks to uncover why, contrary to popular myth, so many broadcasters, administrators and commentators regarded the BBC's wartime record not as the Corporations' own 'finest hour', but an embarrassing discontinuity with, even a regression from, the BBC's core public service aims.
