Crynodeb

Expansive semiarid wetlands include those within the Okavango Delta in southern Africa, the Nile Basin of northern Africa, and those within Murray Darling Basin in Australia, although smaller wetlands are commonplace. Many of the wetlands in these regions tend to be periodic rather than seasonal and may depend on rainfall or inflow from catchments that extend into other climatic zones. Water flows are generally slow moving and many are described as endorheic (i.e., they do not flow out to external water bodies (rivers or oceans) and evaporate or internally drain into lakes or swamps).
