Crynodeb
Developmental Robotics is a relatively new research field in which experiments with robotic models of infant development are designed and investigated. The motivation is either to discover new learning algorithms for robots, or to test out ideas and theories about infant development in analogous physical embodiments. This article describes the background and main characteristics of developmental robotics. Brief case studies illustrate the value of this approach for both robotics and developmental psychology.
