Crynodeb

In this series of short articles a series of Cuban films are analysed to show how specific locations help illustrate some issues related to gender relations. From Diego's apartment in Fresa y chocolate to the Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro, some distinctive and non-distinctive sites in Cuba have been used as locations that emphasize notions of gender in a country with a patriarchal history. When these examples are observed it becomes apparent that the public spaces are illustrative of the heterosexual male domain, while the spaces of women and homosexuality are the more private spaces.
