'The Acts - Vigia' is a series of devised performances conceived, directed, staged and presented in collaboration with groups of young female performers in the UK and in international contexts. Its theme is the unsolved abduction and violent murder of hundreds of young women since 1993 on the border of Mexico and the United States. The central aim of the research has been to investigate appropriate practices for the preparation and exposition of performance work in relation to such contemporary issue and ways in which performance constitute acts of protest, provocation and intervention in the public domain. Each version of 'The Acts - Vigia' was created over a four-day period. Stagings have included Bogota, Colombia (Nov 2006); Lima, Peru (Nov 2006); Barcelona, Spain (April 2007) and the Hemispherical Institute of Performance and Politics, Buenos Aires, Argentina (June 2007). Aberystwyth (Sept 2007) Santa Clara, Cuba (Jan 2008), Cardiff (2008), Brazil (July 2008), Mexico (Aug 2008). Supported by an Arts Council of Wales 'Creative Wales' award in March 2007 of £20,000.
