Crynodeb
Chromium is determined in rock and mineral samples after a sodium carbonate-magnesium oxide fusion, by colorimetry with diphenylcarbazide, using a Technicon Autoanalyser. The method is rapid, and as many as 50 samples a day can be determined (25 in duplicate). The sensitive procedure was applied to the determination of chromium in the U.S. Geological Survey standard rocks diabase W-1, and dunite DTS-1, and the C.A.A.S. standard rock syenite 1: values of 121; 3,530; and 46 p.p.m. respectively were obtained.
