Crynodeb
At the height of the Cold War NATO deployed some 7,300 “non-strategic” nuclear weapons in Europe. The vast bulk of these were US devices held under American custody only to be released with Presidential authority through a nationally tasked command and control system (C²) . Since the end of the Cold War, this stockpile has fallen to a suspected number between 440 and 480. This chapter describes where NATO Europe is now on this issue.
