Description
Orlando: MetamorphosisCatrin Webster & Roy Efrat, Orlando: Metamorphosis. Commissioned for Green Man 2022, Supported by Green Man Trust and Arts Council Wales.
Acrilic on canvas, tow Chanel video, 8 x 8 meter. 10:00 min.
The 8x8 meter collaborative art work suspended in the woods is by Welsh artist Catrin Webster and Berlin-based Roy Efrat. It’s inspired by Virginia Wolfe’s Autobiographical love story ‘Orlando’ and the Welsh Medieval ‘Mabinogion’ texts. . . A story of love, humor and the performance and endurance of self. This work invites audiences to consider time, identity, gender, our relationship to place. It speaks of the ability to change through imagination and creative exploration. Over the past years, when life has been so deeply affected by the global pandemic, change and adaptability have been key. The immersive installation in the woods at Green Man incorporates choreography, video painting, sound and traditional painting on canvas. The work uses painting, film and projection mapping and is made with dance artist Mami Shimazaki.
