Anne joined Research Business and Innovation in 2012 to advise on EU Structural and Research & Innovation funding. She has been European and Business Development Manager since 2017. Anne joined Aberystwyth University in 2009 as INTERREG Project Coordinator, and has held roles within Higher Education, Private Industry and the Civil Service. Anne also has ten years’ experience of research in industry, as Research and Development Manager with an innovative chemical consumables manufacturing company.
Main responsibilities at previous employment
At Biotage AB, as Research and Development Manager, she was responsible for new product development and managed collaborations with HE, Pharmaceutical Companies and Contract Research Organisations.
Education and work experience
Anne has a scientific background, with a PhD in Chemistry and a joint honours BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Experience and knowledge
From her previous roles Anne brings project management skills, experience of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, building multi-sector collaborations, industrial innovation, and translating research.
Main responsibilities within RB&I
Anne oversees the European and Business Development team, who support International and European grant applications; facilitate funding, collaboration and knowledge exchange with business; support regional and partnership working; and advise on protecting and commercialising research. Specifically: identifying and promoting opportunities in e.g. Horizon Europe, Shared Prosperity, Mid Wales Growth Deal, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs); supporting bid writing and costing; developing and managing relationships with businesses; contract research; protecting research and Intellectual Property; technology transfer (including licensing), translational funding applications, Spin Out Companies etc.
Most enjoyable part of working at Aberystwyth University
Anne enjoys the variety of her role, supporting academics and researchers to fund their research, collaborate and exchange knowledge, and translate their research and expertise for the benefit of society.
