Engobo joined the department in September 2006 from the Centre for Energy Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee, Scotland, where she obtained her PhD and worked as a tutor on the Distance Learning (LL.M) Programme. Before then, following a two year stint as a practicing lawyer, she was a lecturer successively at the University of Benin and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, both in Nigeria from 1995-2001. She graduated with first class from the Nigeria Law School and Distinction from the University of Wales Cardiff. She is a former British Council Chevening Scholar, and a Ford Foundation (IFP) doctoral fellow. Engobo is currently the Director of Learning and Teaching for the Institute of Business and Law with responsibility for all taught UG and PGT programmes, and represents the Institute on various University level committees including Academic Board, Academic Development and Planning, and Quality Assurance. Previous roles shhas held includes Director of Postgraduate Studies of the Department of Law and Criminology and Member of the University's Postgraduates Marketing and Recruitment Committee, Probationary Appointments Committee and Standing Panel for Student Appeals.

Engobo has a keen interest in distance learning provision and has been involved in the development, delivery, and coordination of postgraduate masters schemes by distance learning (DL). She has been scheme coordinator for the following LLM programmes: Environmental Law and Management (DL); International Commercial Law and the Environment (on-campus); Environmental Law and Human Rights (DL).

Engobo has been a guest lecturer at the Centre for Petroleum, Energy and Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee, Scotland; contributing to postgraduate teaching on Corporate Social Responsibility and International Business Transactions. She has also been visiting lecturer to the University of Wroclaw, Poland; and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa's African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), Senegal.

Engobo's research interests include environmental regulation and enforcement, environmental justice, environmental governance, corporate social responsibility, and the interface between environmental law and other subject areas such as criminal law, human rights law and international investment law. She has published widely and presented papers at various academic conferences in these areas, usually within the context of the natural resources industry in Africa. She has also acted as an expert or consultant on these issues to organisations such as the Africa Capacity Building Foundation, the African Legal Support Facility; the UN Economic Commission for Africa Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP); Bayelsa State Ministry of Environment, Nigeria; and Globe Consult in Collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria.Engobo has supervised and examined various postgraduate research, especially in the fields of Environmental Law and Policy, Human Rights and Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources Law and Policy; and welcomes research proposals in these and related areas.
