I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, although I am partially retired and I work one-third time.

Responsibilities

I am Associate Dean for Learning, Teaching and the Student Experience in the Faculty of Business and Physical Sciences.

Teaching

I have no teaching duties at the moment.

Research interests

My research interest was in software security, especially the development of rules for the production of secure programs in Java.  This work was carried out in collaboration with the CERT Secure Coding Initiative at the Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, but I am no longer research active.

Additional information

I have been an auxiliary coastguard for over thirty years.

I am treasurer of the Aberystwyth Bibliographical Group and a committee member of the Aberystwyth Civic Society.  I am also interested in history, particularly the history of Roman Britain.

Through my connections in the USA, I am a member of the St. David's Society of Pittsburgh and a co-chair of the Wales-Pennsylvania Project which aims to preserve the Welsh heritage in Pennsylvania and more widely across North America.
