A Hyperspectral Camera for Precision Agriculture

Project: Externally funded research

Project Details

Layman's description

Funding is sought to develop a prototype, lightweight hyperspectral camera for UAV based crop monitoring in the context of precision agriculture and to demonstrate its operation in a field trial. Remote sensing using multi- and hyper-spectral cameras from UAV platforms is a rapidly expanding market. Existing commercial multispectral camera systems lack the resolution and image capture rate required to enable inspection of crops with sufficient detail for many applications and commercial hyperspectral cameras are too heavy and expensive for cost effective UAV use.
