Abstract

As the result of a search for new potentially therapeutic iminosugars, the isolation and the identification of 1,4-dideoxy-1,4-imino-d-lyxital (DIL) glucoside bearing the 1,2,11-trihydroxyundec-4-ene side chains from the roots of Adenophora triphylla is described. This iminosugar was a powerful and selective inhibitor of coffee bean a-galactosidase, with an IC50 value of 8uM.
