Abstract
This chapter explores the representation of Moscow in Russian and Soviet cinema and discerns several stages: the construction on screen of he Soviet capital; the "little" Moscow, an image of the city that dwells on private spaces and suburbia; and the absence of the real Moscow from contemporary films, where it is repalced by an adjusted image of the city, past or present. The city, this chapter argue, has become a blank page onto which any image of the political and historical capital can be drawn.
