Abstract

This study demonstrates that reductions in grain set with cold treatments depend greatly on cultivar and boron availability. Where reductions do occur, there is a linear relationship between grain set and duration of cold, at least up to 12 days after ear emergence. Interactions between cultivar, boron availability and cold on grain set cannot be explained purely on the basis of boron accumulation in the
flag leaf or ear.
