Abstract

This paper presents a current research project that attempted to approach the history of performance art using performative approaches, especially those of the oral history. The focus is on the question in which way such approaches produce historical evidence and set the scene. Even such a performative appropriation of performance history always remains dependent on the artifacts of the archive and generates artifacts in return again received into the archive.
