N2 - Possibilities for the investigation of novel foam systems under microgravity in the framework of a new research programme funded by ESA are discussed. The emphasis is on the investigation of metallic foams, which can be made in various ways, although the field of interest is much wider: it also comprises other non-aqueous and aqueous liquid foams with a high liquid fraction (so-called "wet foams").
