Abstract
This paper presents a 2-port dual-band SIW MIMO antenna for Ku-band (17.1–20.1 GHz), K and Ka band (23.1–27.5 GHz) applications. The proposed MIMO antenna is based on a cavity slot antenna based on a newly proposed DGS structure fed by a Y-junction power divider. The multimode high-order resonances are excited within the cavity resonator using four vias to obtain dual broadband performance. We optimize the DGS structure as a bandpass filter for unwanted frequency resonance and a radiating slot. The antenna achieves realized gains between 6 and 7.5 dBi for the Ku band and between 5 and 6 dBi for the mmWave band for the respective bands, with corresponding radiation efficiencies of > 85% and > 90%. Lastly, suitable values of both ECC and DG are achieved.
