Abstract

This paper investigates compression and encryption algorithms for use in resource-constrained systems. The investigation is structured around a suitable solution for lightweight, fixed-point, resource-constrained microcontrollers, specifically the STM32F0. During the early development stages, simulation testing using sample data allowed for system validation. Hardware-based testing using live and sample data allowed optimisation and validation of the system for use on the STM32F0. The developed system uses RSA encryption and LZSS compression as a solution to data encryption and compression on resource-constrained microcontrollers. The project's code is available on GitHub.
