Abstract
Yn ystod y pandemig covid, defnyddiwyd cyfieithu ar y pryd mewn nifer o achosion o hirbell, a hynny gyda gwahanol lefelau o lwyddiant – roedd sawl her, ond canfyddwyd sawl budd hefyd. Mae sefyllfa benodol y Gymraeg mewn achosion cyfreithiol, oherwydd statws cyfreithiol ehangach y Gymraeg yn golygu bod y Gymraeg yn fodel buddiol ar gyfer archwilio materion ehangach sydd yn codi o sefllfaoedd lle defnyddir cyfieithu ar y pryd. Bydd y papur hwn yn trafod arbrawf ddiweddar i mewn i groesholi mewn achosion o hirbell lle defnyddir cyfieithu ar y pryd. Defnyddiwyd technegau theatr fforwm Augusto Boal i ystyried gwahanol batrymau o gyfieithu ar y pryd, ac i adnabod yr heriau a’r rhagdybiaethau a ddaw i’r amlwg.
During the covid pandemic, simultaneous interpration was used in a number of remote situations, and with varying levels of success – there were several challenges, but also numerous advantages. The specific situation of Welsh in legal settings, because of its wider statutory status, means that Welsh is a valuable model for exploring wider issues involving simultaneous interpretation. This paper will discuss a recent experiment where cross-examination is conducted using simultaneous interpretation. Augusto Boal’s forum theatre techniques were used in order to explore different patterns of simultaneous interpretation, and to identify the challenges and assumptions that emerged.
