Abstract

In this paper, we present our preliminary work on the use of single objective genetic algorithms to improve the design of multicarrier phase coded radar pulses in terms of their autocorrelation properties. The parameter over which optimization is performed is the set of complex phase codes which are applied onto the subcarriers. We show how the use of genetic algorithms is relevant in this context through several comparisons with the well-known Barker phase code structures.
