Abstract
This article draws on a wider study (www.teliesyn.co.uk) outlining the start of one of the highest regarded film and television companies in the history of Welsh broadcasting. The article locates Teliesyn between two fields of cultural production. On the one hand Teliesyn was established to produce radical programming. On the other hand, it was part of a wave of entrepreneurial activity in Britain in the wake of the establishment of S4C and Channel 4. The study requires steering between cultural studies and political economy, achieved through the use of Cottle’s model of analyzing the organization and product of the media.
