Abstract

This collective book present 19 contributions coming from the fields of Literary Criticism, Performing Studies and Anthroplogy. It is thus resolutely interdisciplinary and aims to explore the relationship between ritualistic activities and the modalities of artistic creativity, how the first can trigger, promote and support the second.
Considering its constitutive force and its power of concretisation, an investigation of the performing nature of ritual and the ritual dimension of artistic creation can enlighten the modes of action in which forms are actualized or transformed, instituting differences.
The concept of ritual can thus serve as an interdisciplinary tool which will transgress the long-standing frontier between ethnographic discourse and other more poetic modes of thinking or creating. The objects of this research is therefore to pay particular attention to what the performing powers of ritual in their different contexts can tell us about the creative act itself.
