Abstract

Typhoid fever is still a widespread disease that affects many parts of the world and more effective vaccines are needed (Robbins et al., 1990). Unfortunately the rational development of salmonella vaccines has been hampered by our incomplete understanding of the basic immunological mechanisms operating in experimental typhoid and in the human disease.
