Abstract
A multi-media exposition for the online, peer-reviewed, Journal of Artistic Research (JAR) exposing aims, process, outcome and reflection in relation to The Fractal Clock.. The form of submission explores effective ways to reveal the work to the viewer/reader who had not experienced it originally, and to offer some account and analysis of the responses provoked. The exposition draws upon statements of witnesses, and reflections of the artist, relating to corporeal apprehension of space and time, fractal geometry, anamorphic art, mathematics and modes of creative thinking – not least with the hands.
The article presents as a field – or matrix – of possible relations and associations, as opposed to a linear narrative/argument. As such the form of exposition embodies the nature and drivers of the work itself – to offer the conditions for thought, reflection and meaning-making, which acknowledges (and, in fact, depends upon) the individuality of the gaze that ultimately constructs the experience.
