Abstract

This work evaluates the feasibility of Communication based Sensing (CommSense) system using ‘analog’ TV infrastructure (ATV), termed as ATV-CommSense. Since CommSense works on channel estimate, a signficant challenge is estimating the channel for analog TV. We overcome this challenge by using broadcaster logo transmission as reference ‘pilot’ image signal. In this paper, we have used the DVB-T2 channel models specified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and added white Gaussian noise (AWGN) to vary the signal to noise ratio at the receiver. Finally, from our simulation result, we conclude that the proposed system is practically feasible.
