Abstract

This paper concerns a flexible assembly cell that uses transputers and high performance robotics. We describe our own contribution — the design and implementation of two major software components: the supervisor, which manages and schedules assembly operations on a task-oriented basis, and the sensor integration system, which coordinates the high volumes of sensory information in a powerful and flexible way, based on the concept of virtual sensors.
