Abstract

Food contributes a surprisingly large portion of personal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Could pervasive technologies help us to influence diet choice to reduce this? Reflecting on their experiences from several recent projects, the authors offer some lessons concerning the complexity of intervening in the food people buy and eat, and insights for designers of pervasive technologies addressing food and the GHG impacts of diet. This article is part of a special issue on pervasive food.
