Abstract

The field of strategic studies cannot be defined statically: it is constantly influenced by new events ranging from new technologies to prevailing moods about the likelihood of conflict. The teaching of strategy in universities is affected by this just as much as the study and the practice of strategy is, with the additional task of spelling out the assumptions that the practitioner may often take for granted. The following questionnaire, first used as a basis for seminar discussions in the Department of International Politics, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, in which the author is a Lecturer in Strategic Studies, is designed for a student audience but may be useful for the practitioner of strategy as well.
